There has been lots of encouraging progress as our Children and Youth Ministry deanery networks continue to grow, creating opportunities for collaboration, encouragement and shared learning.
Stockton Deanery held its fourth and final network meeting of the academic year at the beginning of July. Together, members reflected on the year and gave thanks for answered prayers. Using an Action Learning approach, they explored challenging questions, identified practical next steps, shared useful resources, and enjoyed time to pray and eat together. Colleagues from the Diocese also shared information about upcoming events and training opportunities, helping to inspire collaborative thinking for the year ahead.
Mid-July marked another exciting milestone with the launch of two new deanery networks: Durham and Durham Dales. Durham gathered over lunch, while Durham Dales met over a light tea, with both events providing a warm and welcoming space to connect and build relationships.
At each launch, those attending shared stories of what is going well in their local contexts, as well as the challenges and opportunities they are facing. Together, they explored how the networks can become places to share good practice, collaborate in responding to common challenges, and encourage one another in ministry. Both gatherings included time for prayer and began shaping a shared vision for how each network will develop.
It is encouraging to see these networks flourishing across the Diocese, and truly inspiring to hear people’s heart for engaging with children and youth. As these networks continue to develop, they are creating spaces where people can encourage one another, share ideas and resources, and work together to strengthen ministry with children, young people, and families. We hope these stories inspire other deaneries to explore establishing a local network in their own area.
Christine and Jeni recently met with the Lanchester Deanery Synod to share the vision for deanery networks. Following a positive conversation, plans are now underway to launch a Lanchester CYF Network this autumn.
