Church and community members will join together for a performance of Noah and the Ark at St Mary’s Church in Barnard Castle.
Billed as a musical play, the event on Sunday, 4 October will use acting and songs to tell the famous Bible story in an informative way which will bring both education and entertainment.
It will feature a cast of 30 people from St Mary’s Community Music, bringing together members from the church choir, community choir and community orchestra, with local Vicar, the Revd Alec Harding, taking on the lead role of Noah.
Annette Lowson, Director of Music and Organist at St Mary’s, said: “We’re really looking forward to putting on a real show for everyone to enjoy. It will be in an accessible style and is suited to all ages.
“The story of Noah is very relevant in today’s world and it also sends us a strong message about looking after God’s creation. The songs are written in an accessible style and there will be no shortage of light-hearted moments and entertainment for all the family.
“It’s great to have everyone together from across our church and community. We have a wonderfully talented cast and they have been so dedicated to the project.
“The music, script and lyrics are all original so this is a first outing for this particular project. We also hope to make the resources available to any other churches or community groups that may be interested in performing it.”
St Mary’s Community Music has been running for over 11 years now. Previous projects have included telling the story of Ruth, as well as Christmas concerts and carol services. They all raise money for the church and other local good causes.
Entry is free. Donations are welcome. For more information visit the St Mary’s Community Music page - Facebook St Mary's Community Music | Facebook
