Children’s ministry can feel isolating — but it doesn’t have to be.
Following a diocesan listening exercise, one message came through clearly: those serving children and families want greater connection, encouragement and support. In response, the first Children’s Ministry Network launched in Stockton Deanery in October 2025 — and it’s already becoming a thriving learning community.

Meeting in different churches across the deanery, these gatherings offer space for:
- Prayer, encouragement and fellowship
- Sharing ideas and resources
- Learning from each other
- Training input
Facilitated by Christine Muneza, Growing Younger Mission Enabler, the network has quickly become a warm, practical and inspiring space for both volunteers and employed children’s workers and those aspiring to start up a children’s ministry.
Now, new networks are launching across the Diocese at:
Durham Deanery Children’s Ministry Network
13th July | 12pm–2pm, St Laurence Church, Pittington
Durham Dales Deanery Children’s Ministry Network
14th July | 6pm–8pm, Barnard Castle (details tbc)
Who are these networks for?
- Children’s workers (volunteer or employed)
- Church leaders exploring children’s ministry
- Anyone wanting encouragement, fresh ideas, and connection with others serving children and families
- Whether you’re experienced, just starting out, or simply exploring what children’s ministry could look like in your context — we hope you can join a deanery network.
