Students Embark on Pilgrimage to Holy Island

Students from three Church of England secondary schools across Durham Diocese recently took part in a special day of pilgrimage, walking barefoot along the ancient Pilgrim’s Way to Holy Island.

Gainford makes Camino history

Gainford in the Durham Dales, the starting point of the Way of Life on the Northern Saints Trail, has also become part of the Camino Inglés. As of 10 October, it is officially recognised as an accredited section of the Camino Inglés, allowing pilgrims to follow this route all the way to the Cathedral of Santiago on the Camino de Compostela.

Journey of faith and reflection along the Northern Saints trail

This past week, a diverse group of pilgrims set out on a four-day pilgrimage along The Way of Life, one of the Northern Saints Trails crossing County Durham. The event, named The Pilgrimage of Hope, was organised in collaboration with The Auckland Project, GATHER Church Teesdale, the Camino Ingles, and local artists.

Visit to Holy Island for our young people

On Saturday 13 July, youth groups from across our Diocese joined together to walk the Pilgrim's Way. Children's Council also spent the day exploring Holy Island.
