Love Norton Advent Trail and Christmas Tree Festival bring festive joy

Norton’s festive season began with the launch of this year’s Love Norton Advent Trail on 29 November, with a live switch-on at St Mary’s Church. The event, led by Stockton Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture and local Councillor Steve Nelson, was accompanied by a performance from a 40-strong choir of pupils from Crooksbarn Primary School.

St Mary's church unveils ‘Windows for the King’ to mark Richard III’s legacy

In a significant milestone for the local community, Dr. Fiona Hill, Chancellor of Durham University, unveiled a set of specially commissioned etched-glass windows at St Mary’s Church in Barnard Castle on Wednesday, 6 November. These “Windows for the King” were created to honour the 550th anniversary of Richard III’s lordship over Barnard Castle.
