A church and community project which supports people in need has received a welcome festive boost.
In a significant milestone for the local community, Dr. Fiona Hill, Chancellor of Durham University, unveiled a set of specially commissioned etched-glass windows at St Mary’s Church in Barnard Castle on Wednesday, 6 November. These “Windows for the King” were created to honour the 550th anniversary of Richard III’s lordship over Barnard Castle.
An award-winning school is working towards the next stage of an initiative about global issues and the Christian responsibility to tackle them.
The Archdeacon of Auckland, the Venerable Rick Simpson was delighted to be invited to officially open a new nature reserve in our Diocese earlier this week.

A remarkable show of unity and solidarity following recent protests in Sunderland and Hartlepool is continuing as the Diocese of Durham reaches out to support faith communities.
A message from Bishop Sarah: ‘Our Church Communities stand together with all condemning this awful violence and small minority who incite hatred and intimidation on our streets’.
An ambitious project in Hartlepool will receive Lottery funding to secure a bright future for a church and its community.
